Amrik Aujla was introduced as Assistant Digital Technologist in SES Engineering Services’ Digital Development team. He contributed the lessons learned and adoption challenges in the team’s Morta community presentation.
Amrik explained how projects had expanded their use of Morta beyond information delivery planning, while developing different ways of working across the portfolio. He described development and standards as complementary functions: experimentation needed consistency to scale, while standards needed development to keep improving.
He also set out the principles behind SES’s approach to onboarding. Teams needed practical support and an understanding of structured data, rule-based automation and reporting, followed by confidence with documents, tables and views. Looking ahead, he identified digital literacy, sponsorship, alignment with business strategy and coexistence with existing enterprise systems as conditions for lasting adoption. His contribution placed responsibility for change across the people and processes involved, alongside the technical work of building tools.
The onboarding should feel hands-on, and it should feel supported, and it should demonstrate how the platform is there to help the project teams rather than an extra kind of admin process to add on to their already very busy schedules.
