Andy Boutle is Head of Digital Construction at ALEC, where he leads a team of digital-construction managers, coordinators and engineers. His career has included manufacturing, building services, design consultancy and main contracting. He has also contributed to the UK BIM Framework's guidance resources and serves as an international ambassador for nima.
In his Morta Community presentations, Andy explains ALEC's move from repeated document handling to reusable templates, related tables and connected project information. His first session covers information-delivery planning, a model-tracker connection and the learning involved in permissions and departmental adoption.
His November 2023 presentation follows the approach into labour onboarding, newsletter collection and approval, and software feature requests, alongside prequalification in testing. Andy describes working with colleagues and operating teams to build these resources. His advice is to test a specific use case, develop another builder and involve IT before expanding the work.
